The logo: Why a rower?
- Routine vigorous exercise induces physiologic cardiovascular adaptations that enhance athletic performance. The adaptations in response to this training are known as exercise-induced cardiac remodeling or “Athlete’s heart.”
- Given the requirement of high levels of strength and endurance training, rowing induces some of the most pronounced adaptations – dilated and thick hearts.
- This highlights the importance of being able to differentiate health from disease.
- Dr. Shah rowed heavyweight Crew at Boston College.
